How to Plan Day 1: Drift + Check-in?

Morning: Depart Xiamen → Mayang River Drift

We suggest leaving Xiamen island around 9:00 on Saturday via Xinglin Bridge → Shenhai Expressway → Changtai exit, about 45 minutes to the Mayang River drift start. Mayang River drift is one of Fujian's best-known mountain-stream drifts, about 6 km total, 1.5-2 hours on the water. Spring has ample but not violent currents — great for first-timers and families. Lush banks line the route, a primal mountain wilderness you won't see in the city. After the drift, the site has showers and changing rooms; change into dry clothes and head to the next stop.

How to Get to Tiancheng Mountain / Gushanchong on Day 2?

Option A: Tiancheng Mountain sunrise climb (for early risers)

Tiancheng Mountain is only 1.2 km from Cuixi Villa, a famous Zhangzhou scenic area known for the world's largest "Buddha" cliff carving. Leave around 7:00; the climb takes 40-60 minutes to the summit, with sunrise and morning mist over Changtai valley along the way. The summit view is open, overlooking the entire Mayang River basin. After descending, return to the villa for breakfast (bring your own or ask the butler for a Chinese light meal), then another swim before checkout.

Option B: Gushanchong ancient village (for culture lovers)

If climbing isn't your thing, after breakfast drive to Gushanchong ancient village (about 40 minutes from the villa). One of southern Fujian's best-preserved traditional villages, its spring rapeseed fields, bluestone alleys and century-old houses form a natural painting. Great for a slow stroll and photos, with a pot of Tieguanyin at the village teahouse. Have lunch at a nearby farmhouse before heading back.

Option C: Confucian Temple + Grape Garden (for families with kids)

Families with kids can, after checkout, visit Changtai Confucian Temple in the morning (11 km from the villa, China's second-largest Confucian temple), then the Greenmei grape garden (17 km) for picking. Spring is grape season — letting kids pick a bunch themselves is rewarding.
