In the mountain-stay of Manyangxi, Changtai, a good soak is the most healing way to end the day. But have you thought — not all "springs" are the same. Natural geothermal springs have their merits; heated mountain-spring water has its own unique advantages. Cuixi Villa's mountain-spring private bath takes the second path: draw deep-well natural spring water into the pool, heat it to a constant temperature, and enjoy it exclusively with your whole villa — clean, gentle, and adjustable.
Many guests ask before booking: "Is your private bath a natural hot spring?" Our answer is honest — no. But it has benefits a natural spring can't match. This topic walks you through everything about Cuixi's mountain-spring private bath: what it is, where it comes from, its benefits, how it differs from natural geothermal springs, and what the baths look like in different room types.
1. What Is a Mountain-Spring Private Bath
A mountain-spring private bath is, simply put, a private pool using natural mountain-spring water as the source, with temperature controlled by heating equipment. The biggest difference from a natural geothermal spring is the heat source — geothermal heat from the earth's crust versus artificial heating.
But "artificial heating" does not mean "inferior." Quite the opposite: because the water source is mountain spring and the temperature is manually controlled, the mountain-spring private bath has advantages natural springs lack in cleanliness, odor, temperature control, and suitable users.
The source of the mountain spring
Cuixi's private-bath water comes from our own deep-well natural mountain spring. The villa sits in the Manyangxi eco-tourism zone, on the fringe of the Daiyun Mountain range. Rainwater seeps underground and, after long filtration through rock layers, becomes clean mountain water.
This mountain water is characterized by:
- Moderate minerals: contains suitable levels of metasilicic acid, strontium, and other beneficial trace elements, but far lower than natural springs — no skin irritation;
- Soft taste: drinkable after filtration, sweet and clean;
- Odorless: no sulfur or other special smells common in natural springs;
- Low temperature: about 18–22℃ when drawn, needs heating before soaking.
How the bath is heated
Cuixi's private bath uses an air-source heat-pump constant-temperature system. Compared with traditional electric or gas heating, the heat pump is more energy-efficient and safer, and the water temperature is more stable.
The heating process is closed — mountain water is drawn from the deep well, filtered and purified, then sent to the heating system and on to the pool. The whole process never touches the outside, guaranteeing water cleanliness.
2. Features of Cuixi's Private Bath
1. Deep-well mountain spring · five-stage filtration
The bath water and pool water share the same source — our own deep-well natural mountain spring, treated by a five-stage filtration system:
- Quartz-sand coarse filter: removes suspended matter and large particles;
- Activated-carbon adsorption: absorbs organics, odors, and residual chlorine;
- Precision cartridge filtration: removes micro-particles and some microorganisms;
- UV sterilization: physically kills bacteria and viruses, no chemical residue;
- Ozone disinfection: further disinfects and breaks down residual organics.
After these five stages, the mountain water far exceeds ordinary tap water in cleanliness — safe for bathing.
2. Adjustable temperature · four seasons
Natural springs have a fixed temperature set by the geothermal resource itself — some too hot needing cool-down, some not hot enough. The mountain-spring bath temperature is freely adjustable.
Cuixi's private bath ranges about 38℃ to 42℃. Set it by season, weather, and preference: winter 41–42℃ to warm and dispel cold, summer 38–39℃ to relax, spring and autumn 39–40℃ just right.
This matters especially for families with elders and kids — kids have delicate skin and shouldn't soak too hot; elders with hypertension or cardiovascular issues must control temperature. A natural spring's fixed temperature can't easily accommodate everyone; the mountain-spring bath can adjust precisely, more humane.
3. Maximum privacy · whole-villa exclusive
Cuixi's private bath sits on the villa's terrace or in the yard, used only by your group — not open to others, not shared, not mixed. Step from your room in a robe straight to the pool, no strangers, no sharing.
This privacy is something public springs simply can't match. Couples enjoy their world for two; families with kids needn't worry about them running around; business guests can soak and chat — the whole bathing area belongs to you and your party.
4. Terrace location · mountain views
Cuixi's private bath is set on the terrace, opening onto outdoor mountain scenery. Soak in the pool, look up to the sky and mountain outlines, breathe the forest's fresh air, and listen to the stream and insects.
Versus an indoor pool, a terrace bath has clear advantages: good views, airflow, less stuffiness, and great photos. On winter days when it snows lightly on the mountain (rare frost or light snow up there), soaking in open air while exhaling white breath in hot water — that "fire-and-ice" feeling an indoor pool can never give.
5. Fresh water per guest · hygienic
Public spring pools circulate water — topping up daily but not fully replacing — a hygiene concern for many. Cuixi's private bath is refilled with fresh water per guest — before each group, the pool is thoroughly cleaned, disinfected, then refilled with fresh mountain water heated to the set temperature. The water you soak in is prepared just for you.
For guests with sensitive skin, families with kids, and the cleanliness-conscious, this "fresh per guest" approach is clearly reassuring.
3. Benefits of the Mountain-Spring Private Bath
1. Clean & hygienic · no cross-infection risk
This is the most direct benefit. Public pools see constant traffic; however well-filtered, there's always human metabolites and cosmetics residue. Your private bath is exclusive to you (or your family), fresh water per guest, no cross-infection at all.
You'll prefer the private bath if you have:
- sensitive skin or skin conditions;
- menstruation;
- infants to bathe;
- pregnancy (consult your doctor);
- weakened immunity in elders.
2. No sulfur · gentle on lungs and skin
Many find a "rotten-egg" smell and dry hair after natural springs — that's sulfur. Sulfur has some antibacterial and skincare effects, but for sensitive types it can irritate skin and airways, causing dryness, itch, or discomfort.
The mountain-spring bath uses mountain water as the source, completely odorless. After soaking, skin is clean and fresh, hair not dry or tangled. For the smell-sensitive, skin-sensitive, or those who simply dislike sulfur, the mountain-spring bath is the more comfortable choice.
3. For sensitive skin · gentle, non-irritating
Natural springs' mineral concentration is usually higher — good for oily and healthy skin, but for dry, sensitive, or eczema-prone skin it can worsen dryness and itch.
The mountain-spring bath's minerals are moderate and gentle; most skin types adapt. After soaking, skin isn't tight or dry, but softer thanks to the water's softening effect.
4. Adjustable temperature · for different people
Worth repeating — adjustable temperature is a major advantage over natural springs.
Different people suit different temperatures: young adults hotter (41–42℃), elders and kids milder (38–39℃), cardiovascular patients stricter. Natural springs are fixed — you only choose to soak or not; the mountain-spring bath adjusts precisely, safer and more humane.
5. All four seasons
Many think soaking is only for winter. But the mountain-spring bath, being adjustable, fits all year:
- Spring: warm soak (~39℃) to ease muscles and spring fatigue;
- Summer: a cool "cold soak" (36–37℃) to beat the heat, healthier than AC;
- Autumn: warm soak (~40℃) to moisturize and fend off the chill;
- Winter: hot soak (41–42℃) to dispel cold and relax.
4. Mountain-Spring Private Bath vs Natural Hot Spring: An Honest Comparison
We never claim the mountain-spring bath is "better" than natural springs — they're different things with different strengths, for different people. Here's an honest comparison:
| Dimension | Mountain-Spring Private Bath (Cuixi) | Natural Geothermal Spring (e.g. Shanwaishan Park) |
|---|---|---|
| Water source | Deep-well mountain spring, five-stage filtration | Geothermal spring water, many minerals |
| Heat source | Air-source heat-pump artificial heating | Geothermal (natural) |
| Odor | No special smell | Usually sulfur (varies by spring) |
| Temperature | Adjustable (~38–42℃) | Mostly fixed, needs cooling or dilution |
| Minerals | Moderate (metasilicic acid, strontium, etc.) | Higher (sulfur, sodium chloride, bicarbonate, etc.) |
| Privacy | Whole-villa exclusive, fresh per guest | Public pools shared; private rooms cost extra |
| Best for | Sensitive skin, elders/kids, couples, privacy seekers | Those wanting spring texture, mineral therapy |
| Pool variety | Single pool, one function | Many themed pools (herbal, milk, rose), rich choices |
| Hygiene | Fresh water per guest, very clean | Circulating filtration, meets standards but varies |
| Cost | Included in whole-villa rental, low per-person | Tickets ~¥100–300/person; private room extra |
Note: the above is general; actual spring quality and facilities vary by venue. Shanwaishan Hot Spring Park is about a 3-minute walk from Cuixi; guests can combine "villa private bath + spring" for a double-soak.
In short: want privacy, cleanliness, and temperature control — choose the private bath; want variety, natural geothermal, and diverse experiences — go to the spring park. The benefit of staying at Cuixi is you can experience both. Soak in various functional pools at Shanwaishan by day, end with the private bath at the villa — movement and stillness combined, doubled experience.

6. Private Bath Tips
Best times to soak
Several ideal windows in a day:
- Morning soak (7:00–9:00): after a light meal, 10–15 min warm soak to boost circulation and wake the body;
- Afternoon soak (15:00–17:00): 15 min after a nap to relieve fatigue and relax muscles;
- Pre-sleep soak (21:00–23:00): 15–20 min about an hour before bed to aid sleep.
Keep each soak to 15–20 minutes. If dizzy, palpitations, or chest tightness, get up and rest immediately and hydrate.

Usage notes
- Shower first: clean your body in the shower before entering, keeping the pool clean;

- Hydrate: you sweat while soaking; drink before and after;
- No jewelry: may slip off or be affected by temperature;
- Children accompanied: under-12 must be accompanied by an adult at all times;
- No bath products in pool: soap/shampoo affect water quality and make it slippery;
- Get up slowly: to avoid postural hypotension dizziness;
- Keep warm after: especially in winter, dry off and put on a robe to avoid chills.
